Market research - online football games and betting?

I want to try and get an idea as to how many people are playing online games like Fantasty Football and how much money is spent on betting on football matches in the UK each week/month....

Anyone know of any sources of information or ways of finding out?

Where can I find floral industry market research and demographics?
These are wholesale numbers, so I don't think their exactly what you are looking for.

Flowers

$422 million

The combined wholesale value of domestically produced cut flowers in 2004 for all flower-producing businesses in 36 states with $100,000 or more in sales. Among states, California was the leading producer, alone accounting for nearly three-quarters of this amount ($304 million). %26lt;%26gt;http://www.nass.usda.gov%26gt;

$43 million

The combined wholesale value of domestically produced cut roses in 2004 for all businesses in 36 states with $100,000 or more in sales. Among all types of cut flowers, roses were second in receipts to lilies ($78 million). %26lt;%26gt;http://www.nass.usda.gov%26gt;

22,022

The number of florists nationwide in 2003. These businesses employed 113,270 people. %26lt;%26gt;http://www.census.gov/prod/www/abs/cbpto...

Trade associations often keep market statistics, or may be able to point you in the right direction. For specific information about Wisconsin, I'd try this association:

Wisconsin

Wisconsin Florists Association

P. O. Box 493

Menomonee Falls, WI 53052

262-251-6010

Specific demographic information for the state of Wisconsin down to the county, or even city level can be found at the census website.

Anyone have a sample of market research? i am out of ideas now?
It's probably too late for an answer to your "11th hour" question, but:

Market research simply means compiling data about something you want to know more about.

For example, you want to sell hot dogs, so your research might include:

Average price of hot dogs within 1 mile of my house: $1.00

Number of stores that sell hot dogs within 1 mile: 10

Types of hot dogs sold: beef (90%), corn dogs (10%)

Number of hot dog wholesalers serving this area: 2

Average wholesale cost of hot dogs: $0.45

Average wholesale cost of buns: $.02

Cost of condiment containers: $45 each

Number of hot dogs eaten by the average person: 1.5 per month

And now you have some basic idea about the hot dog market in your target area.

Good luck!

Anyone have any good ideas for marketing a mortgage company in a high end beach city?

I have been trying to research some marketing ideas for a mortgage company I do work for. I am doing a newsletter and a email newsletter. My market is the high end homes on the southern california coast., mainly orange county beach cities. Anyone with any good ideas please let me know.

Anyone have any good ideas for marketing a mortgage company in a high end beach city?
I work in the mortgage industry. Whether you are marketing at the higher end or not it is the same. Newsletters are always good to let people know what is going on with your company. Also, you want to add other facts like put an article about decorating tips from an interior decorator and give them the byline. Send out a press release to the local newspapers telling about your company. There are many companies that you can use to send cookies or gifts to your clients. Mail out postcards in between newsletters and let them know you were thinking of them. Maybe attach a coupon to the postcard for a local restaurant. If there are golf courses around find out when the next big tournament is an sponser the tournament. Hand out golf towels with your company name on it.

Just because these are high end homes doesn't mean that the people are above all other people and you need to market them in a completely different way. There are so many marketing ideas out there. If you want more ideas email me and I would be glad to chat with you.

I'm thinking of writing a book about teachers. Teachers are always seen as clever people but I'm going to be sharing my anecdotes about the more... 'odd' teachers I've had. It'll be a humourous look from the eyes of a teenager. Please let me know what you think.

What information shall I obtain before I come up with a marketing objective for a company?

As we know, to be effective, a Marketing Objective must be realistic and attainable, or the marketing objective is meaningless, and we may simply create one: to increase sales by 80% in the small-business segment of the market during the next 12 months, which might sounds abit unrealistic.

Before coming up with a good marketing objective statement, what kind of research or analysis shall I pay attention to?

What kind of information shall I obtain from the company? or research the market out there in order to come up with a good marketing statement?

What information shall I obtain before I come up with a marketing objective for a company?
It would help more if I knew what business you are working in but I'll try to help anyway.

Firstly and most importantly you need to find out from your bosses what you marketing budget is. It is no good doing a whole load of research and planning your marketing spend at 30,000 when you only have 15,000 because you will have wasted a whole lot of time and have to re-do your research to accomodate your new budget.

Secondly research the product both on and off line to see how other people are promoting it, and where. Then search online to see search patterns and how often this particular product is being searched for. Also try going to Yahoo and typing in the product you are doing the marketing for and see how many results come up and look at the websites as these will also give you ideas of how to direct the marketing of your product.

The main key is to do as much research into the product that you are seeling and work out sales patterns, and search engine searches for the product in question.

You may find that by looking at search patterns more people tend to buy your product in the summer so you would want to plan a bigger spend during these couple of months to make sure that you are maximising sales and taking away sales from your competitors. Also if there is a big dip in the sales of the product then you may also want to put a little extra of the budget into selling at this time as it could drive people to buy the product if they are seeing it a lot.

Just make sure that you do comprehensive research and have all your bases covered.

80% is realistic if... and only if... you force yourself to be patient. Most people can't do this. Study, study and study some more. Research the hell out of them.

If you don't know your competitors, that's a major mistake.

Logo Marketing Research. Your opinion needed!?
You don't say what kind of impression you are looking for with the logo. So I'll just give you my first impressions:

I think the all-caps for the AMGLOBAL works pretty well, and lowercasing all of technologies works okay too. However the font looked a bit dated to me, like a 70's vintage font like Futura. You might think about using/purchasing a more recent font, one that might have a little heavier weight in the ends of the strokes (but not serif). Something classy but not too "techy".

As it is, the weight of the strokes and the rules above and below compete with each other.

The bouncing globe made me laugh out loud. I much prefer that to the constantly spinning globe cliche. But I laughed because I thought it was a little silly, not harmfully so, but still.

An excellent account analyst in market research company. What knowledges and skills would I should have?

You should know the basic methods of collecting market research data and when to use them. Good verbal and written communication skills are important (reread your question and think about how you could improve it). Some statistical knowledge would help also.

Good computer skills in Word, Excel and Powerpoint are a necessity. Experience using statistical software like SPSS or SAS is a plus.

What should I know for a market research position as an economics major?
1. Hone your math skills as you will be doing a lot of t-tests and such. Learn as much as you can about statistics.

2. Learn more about marketing, of course.

3. Study effective data presentation. It's one thing to make a table but another to make a table that will convey a marketing story for the customer.

4. Learn how to write well. You will be writing lots of reports.

What would be the best way to market or sell Pay Per Click Market Research and Competition Research.?

I can provide very powerful PPC information that others can not, and I can provide it fast. Ex: I can give a client the list of their top competitiors, the exact ads that they are using and tell them which ads are working for there competitors and which is not. I can also provide much more detail about there market and competitors quickly. I feel this information is worth thousands of dollars per report.

What would be the best way to market or sell Pay Per Click Market Research and Competition Research.?
Let’s assume that you can provide full duplicate of competitors' PPC accounts with full access to their texts, prices, conversion rates, and so on and so on. In that case you work as a consulting company and offer them your advertising services. However, just by simply knowing how other companies advertise and what is the effect of their advertising is not enough to guarantee success. Marketers constantly do test to verify the state of their competitors - that's part of the competitive intelligence. Hint: the important word in ‘competitive intelligence’ is not the word ‘competitive’.

Frankly, i cannot imagine how you can do that. To me you sound like a disgruntled employee who wants to cash out from internal access to the accounts of big budget PPC consulting company with multiple clients and various lines of business by selling info to their competitors.

If lucky someone has already approached you with a proposal – my advice for you is to negotiate the amount as a lump sum equal to expected percentage of future profits discounted to their present value. Interested parties would be web-entrepreneurs who can benefit by knowing which markets are lucrative and still not saturated.

Have a good one.
Reply:Contact them directly. Use your "tool" to sniff out popular keywords and find who is bidding on them. Then contact them through their email if it's listed on their site, or do a whois search to find it.

Maybe you could give them a partial report for free if they respond to your email.

In todays world lots of companies are very secretive about there dealings, i.e Murges, Sell off's etc. How and Where do the guys on the stock market learn the goings on before it actually happens??

How do stock market Analysts research the future fluctuation of Stocks?
There are sectors in the capital market whose stocks are very expensive and whose market value is more like to appreciate than depreciate. Examples are shares of banks and oil companies. So, it is usually simple to forecast the future market value of such shares. The common Forecasting tool used is time series analysis. Apart from that, past stock market information is used to predict future market capitalisation of companies

Does ne1 know the website for market research companies in the UK?
I answer surveys sent to me via email from www.yougov.com (or is it co.uk?). They pay you 50p per survey or enter you into a draw (which is annoying - I want the 50p). I've been doing this for about 18 months and have built up a credit of £38. They don't pay you until you have £50 credit. It's not quick money but they will pay you eventually!

What is pricing? Are there special considerations when conducting market research for a social enterprise?

Pricing is the exercise of determining the appropriate price for you product or service. A thorough pricing analysis can be very complex, but too often pricing decisions are made arbitrarily. Important considerations include: your operational costs, your brand image, your target market, and competitors.

An unknown brand often needs to price itself lower to induce trial, and then can raise prices once a loyal customer base is achieved. For example, in the 1970s Toyota was a low cost/low price brand, but as its reputation for quality grew it changed into a premium priced brand. Hyundai has been trying the same strategy, with less success.

As far as market research for a social enterprise, the methods you use are no different from traditional product or service research. However, the questions you ask should measure the perceived value/benefits of the social aspect of the business in addition to the standard research questions.

What is pricing? Are there special considerations when conducting market research for a social enterprise?
Price is the dollar amount your customers pay for your product or service. Pricing is more than a number: it is the process of monetizing your social enterprise’s value in the marketplace. Pricing helps define your social enterprise’s profitability, which has implications for the rest of your organization. At its core, good pricing strategy will reflect your enterprise’s overall marketing and business strategy.

Market research involves trying to gain insights into prospective customers’ core values and beliefs – important information as you develop your marketing strategy (remember, it is not enough to just offer great product features, you will also have to communicate these features to your prospective customers).

It may be the case for your social enterprise that your customers’ values and beliefs are of utmost importance because you are selling them a product/service with great emotional value – you are selling a product PLUS a mission. Thus, determining whether or not you can charge more for your social enterprise’s product will involve asking prospective customers how much they value your mission vs. other features (quality, design, convenience) that your competitors might be able to match or exceed.

In some instances, your social enterprise may be targeting customers who are sold based on the quality of your product/service, coupled with a pricing structure that reflects the fair value in the market. The mission or social cause may be less valued by your customers. Market insight into what your customer is looking for will aid in your understanding on how to price.

It is an advertising mechanism. I told someone about shea butter as a response to a q about dry skin. Mine was chosen as best answer... Reply:Depends on what you mean by "top". The biggest revenue. If you're using that to determine what company to hire or work for, you're barking up the wrong tree. The highest revenue research firms are all mass-market statistics gathering machines that mostly use phone surveys and panel questionnaires to attempt to answer questions about where the market is headed. That's a moderately useful approach for some situations, but in dealing with most difficult marketing questions (e.g. product conceptualization, product refinement, determining advertising tone %26amp; details) statistics aren't going to give you the whole answer because some of the most important data is qualitative and can't be boiled down to a stat.

Moreover, the people at the big research firms who know how to put together a survey are senior people who typically don't do that kind of work any more, leaving the work of creating and executing the surveys to entry-level drones who don't know what they're doing. After botching a number of surveys with leading questions, questions that don't yield the answer they should be looking for, or poor customer treatment, these drones hopefully eventually learn how to conduct a survey, but they also unfortunately learn the attitude that a survey is the answer to everything. Anyway, I would stay away from most of the big market research houses.

Here are some firms I really admire:

Jump Associates- If you're working on the conceptualization stage of product development/marketing strategy and need research, they're the best of the best. Extremely creative in their approach to research and very strategic in their thinking. Their research is generally qualitative (which is the most appropriate for the conceptualization stage), but they can execute simple quantitative research well or make recommendations for something more complex.

Cheskin Research- A fairly big company with a wholistic approach to research. They have people who handle just about any kind of research, but they're stronger at dealing with questions that are later in the process (e.g. selecting product features from known options).

Doblin- Strong research/marketing strategy firm that does a fantastic job of thinking strategically about the business problem.

Conifer- Excellent qualitative researchers with a strong anthropology background.

35 years experience in advertising

I imagine there are dozens of potential elements involved when considering a product for the marketplace. Here are a few that come to mind.

1. What is needed and useful, for a specific or general segment of society?

2. What can be easily manufactured?

3. What can be be readily distributed?

4. How will the pricing work for the maker, wholesaler and retailer, allowing for promotion and overhead? In other words, profitability.

5. What are the short and long term plans for extending the product reach with follow-up products that relate back to the original concept?

Once these are answered, one can begin to construct a realistic picture of product development and future goals.

I have helped bring many products top market. Hope this helps and good luck.

Role of Marketing Research in decision-making by AAKER,D.A, KUMAR,V.and DAY,G.S?

What is your question? Please re-write so you can get good answers.

I applied at a mkt research firm, and failed an interview test. I found another job since, but can i reapply?

I had initially applied at a market research firm for an entry level position, and had to take a test before my interview. I failed the interview and didnt get the job, but found employment since. I want to reapply there, but I'm nervous that they won't let me take the test since I failed it the first time around. Any advice? I really need it!!!

I applied at a mkt research firm, and failed an interview test. I found another job since, but can i reapply?
There is no way we can tell, but unless you apply you will never know. Really, you have nothing to lose by applying and waiting to see what happens - at worst, you may not get the chance to interview, but if you don't apply you will not even get the opportunity to do so

In the meantime, I hope you are also still applying at other organizations - don't put all your eggs in one basket, if you are job hunting it is better to keep looking until you have a signed job offer in your hand.

Good luck!

australia and i want to do it i am talking about the type of market research where they pay about 40 dollars an hour to answer questons cause i go to T.A.F.E and it would be perfect for me does someone know a website or something

People from australia does anyone know how to sign up to market research in australia cause i am from?
If you are after $40 per hour you are pretty much dreaming. the pay if you go to any place with a union will be approx $20 per hour although at the moment it is going up yearly, so I'm not exactly sure how much it is but when I left about 6 months ago it was between $19-$20. Although for the work it is, I always thought that it is great pay and also flexible hours. Great for students. To find the places either go through the yellow pages, thats a popular method, although sometimes word of mouth is best (this can have problems though when you apply if you say you have friends working there because not all places like to have large groups of friends working for them). They will sometimes also advertise positions on seek.com.au. Otherwise you can go to www.mrsa.com.au which has a list of all the companys that have been accredited by them and therefore a pretty much legitimate companies.
Reply:try looking in the yellow pages under market research and contacting them directly ... that shows initiative.. also next time you see somemarket researchers in shopping centres ask them :) ... you have nothing to loose

Market research companies in the UK?

I am in my final year looking for graduate jobs in market research. I realize that most firms/agencies are based in London. I do not have the desire to relocate to London (heard horrible stories about the living expenses and housing condition). Are there any market research companies in Edinburgh that you would recommend? Thanks in advance.

Market research companies in the UK?
With respects, if you're in your final year at uni you should have a careers service which will have a database of all the local jobs and will continue to see you a year or two after you graduate. If there are up and coming market research companies that are not yet on the database I suggest that local networking is a better way to find out about them than YA. My daughter did part-time evening bar jobs and got an awful lot of sensible admin work contacts that way. It shouldn't take you a few minutes otherwise to do a Google search for the major market research companies to see if they have branches in Scotland. Good luck!

Is there a lot of upside in Market Research? (using SPSS - that kind of stuff) 10 points!!!?

I recently got a position as a Market Research Analyst paid at 57k a year.

Is there a lot of upside potential? What is the common career track?

Is it feasible to be making 100k in 5 years?

Is there a lot of upside in Market Research? (using SPSS - that kind of stuff) 10 points!!!?
I do not know what is your preparation, however I can tell that it could be a nice career track. If you know probability and statistics (modern survey sampling methods - the quantitative part, not the qualitative. Ex. Model Assisted Survey Sampling, etc.) you can rapidly grow inside your company. However, I do really believe that it doesn't have to be with what you have studied or what you have learn... It has a lot to be with attitude and the ability to sell ideas and to speak in public. That is, to have good presentation skills or to have the ability to speak of complex mathematical-statistical models in an easy way. The money, comes in a quite slow motion; however, it increases constantly and sometimes with high jumps.

If it has potential... Well, of course it has, you just have to search over the Internet, how many millions of dollars are oriented to survey statistical methods. But, as a result, there are loads of people who are interested; however, the majority are not really specialists.

Hope this help. Good luck!

What is Marketing research?

Marketing Research is carried out by specialists. It depends upon the product for carrying out with wholesalers, middlemen, retailers and customers or all of them or any particular category. The research will analyse through questionnaire's to bring out:

1. Customer preference - quality, price, size, shape and type of packaging expected( for a soap)

2. Retailers - commissions existing for other brands what will be for the new one. Preferred lots.

3. Middlemen - Commission expected and preferred lots, warehousing facilities available with them, mode of transport and handling facilities.

4. Wholesaler - Preferred lots, warehousing facilities. transport and handling, incentives for higher voulmes, payment terms

5. Product life cycle based on previous experience and the advertising for launching of the product.

6. A comprehensive study will be made on the above and report submitted to the manufacturer for taking appropriate action which will help him to decide the presentation of the product and accompanying sales promotion etc.,

I would add the statistical aspect of market research, along with the development of surveys and analysis of such data.

Market research can be a very useful tool, however with statistics, there is always the possibility of using some mathematical "tricks" to skew the data in the favor of whomever is paying the bills.

Always look at stats with a wary eye.
Reply:Marketing research is not as lofty as most people think. It is simply looking for the demand for you product or service, or looking for a product or service that meets a current demand. A young man intent on making money first studies the lawns in the neighborhood. The yards he determines need mowed are the customers he approaches. The same young man may study his neighbors property and determine the fense needs painted and will offer that service to his neighbor.

That's basic marketing research.
Reply:Research and analysing are part of t he marketing segments are the requirement units to specific areas such as business, local, goverment and etc.Generally you have to specific the requirement of marketing research, therefor will understanding of the target.Marketing can be dividing into there segments such as research, analysing and indentifying.
Reply:well, the question was about "marketing research", not "market research"
Reply:Its the research you do about the people behaviour and habits to buy their needs and desires.

It includes: age, income, scholar degree, gender, schedules, jobs, cities, materials, prices, contents of the products, distribution and advertising impact.

Reply:eBay provides marketplace research. Check out the source link below. I believe you have access up to 90 days of transactions. Depending the volume of your product, that could be worthwhile.
Reply:I would suggest on tests is best way to know. spend 20-40 $ on fees till you figure out:) aswell it depends if people buy from you later on your small feedback and way you show products and many other factors.. so you never know if someone else is selling much more. just look at competition and overtake it?

Marketing research proposal?

I was interested in doing one on a fast food resaturant, or healthy foods, or sports, or country music?

ANY IDEAS??

THANKS!

Marketing research proposal?
You will want to start with demographics in your research. Those demographics for the fast food or health food, being they are local, you will want to focus on the local market and focus on the demand for that market. With country music, you will want to focus globally on your research to understand music trends worldwide.

You will need to state advertising methods to be used, cost of advertising, expected ROI from the efforts, etc.

Ultimately, try to inspire your audience (superiors, company, client) with the golden paved road and use hard fact data with a creative approach in showing them how you can turn that data into customers and sales through your unique marketing approach. Don't go selling magic beans though.
Reply:Wthich hypothesis or assumption are you going to prove about? Decline in fast food restaurant? More health conscious of people? Set the objectives of this research, then the scope (what aspects to ask) to get this prove. And to which respondent qualification to ask? (female aged 25-50?). By what method are you going to conduct? Tele-survey? Write everything clearly in the research proposal and imagine of the output image.

Difference between Business Research and Market Research?

Please explain to me the difference between Business Research and Market research .

Difference between Business Research and Market Research?
Business Research encompasses the all factors related to business ii.e.planning,organizing,staffing,financ... controlling,co-ordinating,marketing etc

But Market Rearch is concerned with Marketing and its related factors i.e. product, quality, pricing, consumers, policy %26amp; strategy etc.

It is more elaborate to explain.

Can someone plz suggest any good institute that offers diploma courses in Market Research thru correspondence?

It's 2008. I think they all do.

I'd check out University of Phoenix, they are popular for their correspondence degrees. I've taken marketing courses through them myself.

What is the future scope of Market Research Services Companies?

as long as there is business companies, there will be a need for "good" market research.

Segmentation and market research?

1) Is it possible for a small businessto oversegment its market?

2) How would that be dangerous?

3) What do you think is the biggest limitation for small businesses conducting market research?

Segmentation and market research?
1) It all depends on the size of your niche and the reach your company has (e.g. clicks vs bricks)

2) Don't over-think it, but regularly evaluate whether your segments are (a) valid, and (b) appropriate. YOu may find that several segments can be combined into one.

3) Biggest limitation is the resources (time %26amp; money).

2) You custom-produce instead of mass-producing, thereby increasing your costs.

3) Lack of professional background in marketing (samples are too small, understanding of statistics is limited, etc.)
Reply:Yes....micro segments could drive up the cost of each customized product or service.

Re: Research....poor questioning and sampling. For example...Ford asked Edsel buyers if they were satisfied with the car....they were but there were not enough of them....the rejectors were never asked "whatt is lacking from the Edsel?"

2. For market research: too little data per segment. For production: too much customization to justify added cost.

3. Two things: 1. Too little data overall and 2. Too little business volume to justify hiring a specialist.

How much do good, thorough, fairly long (50 pg) marketing reports on India sell for? Something in the hundreds

I work for a media/consulting firm specializing on the South Asian market. I am a marketing research analyst and wrote a very thorough report on India's market for my company. My supervisor is asking for suggested price-points for it. Does anyone know how much these kinds of reports sell for?

I was thinking something around 300, but I am not familiar with what the current rate is, for detailed marketing reports on India. The paper is fairly long, 50 pages, and covers almost all aspects of marketing: product diffusion, product design and packaging, product positioning, advertising, pricing, distribution network, etc.

What would be a reasonable price for such a report?

RNCOS http://www.rncos.com is a market research company based in India that produces a lot of market research reports on various Indian markets. Their reports cost $600 and above.

An example is their "Opportunities in Indian Healthcare Sector" which is a 50-age report and costs $600 http://www.rncos.com/Report/IM054.htm

You may want to check out their reports. They are a heavy user of press releases for their publications so that is one strategy you can certainly use. Once they have a report out, they send a press release to many low-cost press release distribution outfits out there.

How does one do market research to determine whether there is a need for a kitchen chair that is height adjust

As a short person, this question is dear to my heart. Most tables and chairs are too high for me these days. Just doing a survey of average heights in a particular area might help. Sitting too low is bad for digestion. I live with tall people so height adjustable dining chairs is a great idea. We do it for computer work, why not eating. Count the number of below average height people in a particular area by survey, probably by phone.

How does one do market research to determine whether there is a need for a kitchen chair that is height adjust
you need to research what is already available on the market and like ann says do some kind of survey and depending on the type of chair (whether office, home, dining etc) you could carry out this survey in public places such as internet cafes or outside restaurants... hope this helps a bit... if it is for a project mention ergonomics (design around size and shape of people)

Explain two ways in which sales representatives can assist companies with market research.?

Explain two ways in which sales representatives can assist companies with market research.?
i'm not doing your homework for you....

but think about it like this... who actually interacts with the customers? Who gets the "from the horses mouth" comments about product, practices, and such? Who sees what works, and what doesnt? your sales reps. Sales reps are paid semi-decent money to be aware of the customers constantly changing needs, and server as the communicator between consumer and producer.
Reply:1. Sales representatives are the ones who actually talk to the customers. They hear from the customers' own mouths what the customers want, what's important to them. Usually they know better than the marketing department what will sell and what won't.

2. Sales reps track the reputation of the company with the customers. They know what the customers' complaints are, where the company's products need improvement, and what upgrades and improvements the customers would most like to see.

3. Sales reps are in a position to talk to customers about prospective new products and to get feedback. 'What if my company made something like this? Would you be interested?' Since in many cases the sales reps have the job of keeping in touch with customers, they can gather this information fairly easily.

What role does marketing research play in new product development and brand name development for a company?
In new product development, outcome of marketing research may give idea if the product will succeed in the market, if it will gain market share, how the market will accept it, and generally, it gives ideas on the possible risks and oppurtunities. This information would then lead management to decide whether to launch the product or not; or would give them idea on what strategies to apply so that the product will succeed.

In brand name development, marketing research may give ideas on what names are appropriate for the product, implications on using the name, what image does it give to the product, and how the market will perceive it.
Reply:Marketing research plays a major role in product development. As a whole, marketing research plays a major role in the business development. Market research is very effective in conducting feasibility studies whether the proposed products being developed would sell or not once released in the market. Market research will also give you focus in terms of who your target market will be - or who will most likely buy your product. Result of the research may include the demographic variables which you should consider with regards to your target market - thus your whole marketing effort will be dependent on this.

MArket research is similar to a blueprint of a house, you shouldnt start buiding a house without it. Market research provides cost effective simulation of cost benefit study for a product or project you are developing.
Reply:It depends very much on the situation. When large corporations are developing new products and brands they usually do considerable market research. There is usually a kind of fascinating interplay between internal experts and market research subjects because consumer and customers rarely know what they want without being shown what their options are. For instance, if you'd have asked consumers 20 years ago what they wanted next in vodka they probably would not have come up with "a staggering array of extremely expensive vodkas in fancy bottles". But when the packaging and branding experts came up with the ideas, consumers responded positively in research and in the market. If you look at a company like Ben %26amp; Jerry's, they probably have a fair number of people who'se job it is to figure out what the flavor trends are going to be - for example, a couple years ago everyone seemed to be in love with peach flavored things - yogurts, waters, ice creams, etc. Recently it seemed to be that rasberry swept through every category. Consumers can't tell you what they'll like in two years, but some of these smart guys can. That said - if a smart guy reads the tea leaves and identifies that fruit juices mixed with mint is going to be the next big thing, can he tell you how much mint is the right amount? No. To figure that out you have to make a bunch of batches with different amounts of mint and have consumers try them.

I said all that to say this though. Not all new products or brands involve market research. A staggering number of products are launched very small and grow organically. Take hot sauces for instance - the vast majority of hot sauces you see on the shelf probably had minimal market research done. Rather, individuals set out to create a sauce they liked, they bottled it in small amounts, other people tried it, liked it, recommended it, and over a period of time the product grew. There are thousands and thousands of examples of products like this. Some have become gigantic successes, while others grow to local or regional fame but never quite make the next leap.

So it really depends on the situation.
Reply:It plays a big role. It helps identify the target market your product, price and promotion should be in order to be succesful. The same for brand development.

You need research to find out how to define your 4P strategy for the segment you are attempting to reach.
Reply:The first guy was right...as far as Ben %26amp; Jerry's marketing research would probably involve focus groups and surveys to try and distinguish how the company stacks up against competitiors in the minds of consumers. They could also get ideas for new products and test them (on focus groups).

Marketing Research Help?

I have a web site featuring non-lethal self protection weapons and would like to know - who would most likely want a product like this and when would they most likely need it?

Example: I'm a single gal in her 20's who works late at night and I would like to have something to protect me as I walk to my car. Or I know some one who.....or something similar that answers who needs it and when it is needed.

Marketing Research Help?
I would try and market to girls in college. I have seen many girls sporting a can of mace waking to and from campus
Reply:Hi,

There are many ways to market a small business on the web. You can buy banner ads, text links, or use PPC. However, the best way is to get listed in a bunch of portals. Portals and directories are like phone books, and they often provide a lot of traffic because they tend to rank high on Google.

This portal is giving away a free business card holder for lising your business (I got mine a few days ago in the mail). If you want to know about some other portals, just let me know.

Reply:Marketing research is the most effective way to guage the temperature of your audience and their likes, dislikes and needs. Companies invest millions of dollars in research before they launch a product and its worth every penny. I do marketing research as a large part of my company and the results are amazing.

It goes way beyong asking questions....its in who you ask and more importantly, how you ask them. There is a scientific method to designing and asking the questions to ensure that the necessary results are achieved.

What do you understand by marketing research?

What are the strategy you will use for markeitng research?

What do you understand by marketing research?
Marketing research is the process of gathering information about business environment, competitors, consumer behavior, etc. It usually looks at available secondary data (statistics, white books, reports) or goes after primary data (surveys aka questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, etc.)

Results form marketing research give insights for the undergoing processes in the market where your business operates. It is very important part of the marketing business done beforehand or/and continuously
Reply:From a practical point of view, marketing research is collecting any data that can support the existance of any unsatisfied need.

The best researchers are able to understand the past and current trends that exist within any industry. This is called a Cyclic Goal Setting Strategy in which you try to find the natural rhythm of a particular industry and get into the game by creating a Differentiated response to this trend from your competitors and implement it. You need to get as much feedback as you can and remember you can also create your own market by researching what your competitors fail to target.
