I recently got a position as a Market Research Analyst paid at 57k a year.
Is there a lot of upside potential? What is the common career track?
Is it feasible to be making 100k in 5 years?
Is there a lot of upside in Market Research? (using SPSS - that kind of stuff) 10 points!!!?
I do not know what is your preparation, however I can tell that it could be a nice career track. If you know probability and statistics (modern survey sampling methods - the quantitative part, not the qualitative. Ex. Model Assisted Survey Sampling, etc.) you can rapidly grow inside your company. However, I do really believe that it doesn't have to be with what you have studied or what you have learn... It has a lot to be with attitude and the ability to sell ideas and to speak in public. That is, to have good presentation skills or to have the ability to speak of complex mathematical-statistical models in an easy way. The money, comes in a quite slow motion; however, it increases constantly and sometimes with high jumps.
If it has potential... Well, of course it has, you just have to search over the Internet, how many millions of dollars are oriented to survey statistical methods. But, as a result, there are loads of people who are interested; however, the majority are not really specialists.
Hope this help. Good luck!
