Before I kick off a major marketing campaign, I'd like to understand who my target audience is, understand their purchasing behaviors and so on. Marketing campaigns can cost a lot of money, so it is best to have qualitative and quantitative proof to confirm or deny the feasibility of a marketing campaigns success.
Why is research important to a Sales/Marketing Manager?
Research is the mirror of what is happening in the market.
Research answers what are new consumer trends in terms of their needs, wants and demands (Known as CoolHunting).
It also answers what all Brands / Products is in consumers consideration set (TOM).
Research can also help answer how a product will perform in the marketplace (Concept research).
A Marketer can also do pricing research (Brand Price Choice Modelling).
A Marketer can also track what is the impact of advertising on consumers (Brand Health Track).
