I feel like I am close to an offer after 6 interviews and numerous reference checks. I also have absorbed $2500 of pay day loan debt in the last 3 months. How usual is it for a company in the Data Processing/Market Research Industry to agree to a signing bonus?
Signing Bonus in Data Processing/Market Research Industry?
It's highly unusual. Such bonuses are reserved for top executive talent.
Reply:After that many interviews and no offer, much less a 'sign on' bonus, I wouldn't expect one. Also, you should have been told the salary range during the interview. If not, be very careful not to leave the impression you are only interested in the money. Another idea is to mention your salary expectations in your resume. That is a tough one because it may cause some prospects to by pass you. However, if you won't consider less than $$$, that is the way it is. You do have to make enough to live on and pay the bills no matter how good the job is.
Reply:Can rarely ever hurt to ask. Signing bonuses are usually reserved for the high flyers or are more common in a tight job market where companies are competing for top prospects.
It can rarely hurt to ask, but after 6 interviews if you have never asked or mentioned it - I think there is some risk of giving them a bad impression.
