Why do people get confused between telemarketers and telephone market research analysts?

Telemarketers and telephone market research analysts both have the audacity to intrude on my life. I don't seem to suffer much confusion. They're both vermin.

Why do people get confused between telemarketers and telephone market research analysts?
Do not call is the greatest thing ever created. F both telemarketers and telephone market researchers.
Reply:I am a telemarketer (well I don't cold call) my fancy name is a vacation coordinator. I would love to help you in your intro to help you out with your job. People should be nicer to phone people. Just click on my avatar to e-mail me for help in your proffesion.
Reply:Well, lets start with the fact that they both intrude on our lives by using the telephone. When I stop what I am doing to answer the phone, I am fundamentally annoyed when it is neither: a) urgent (emergency) or important (business) nor b) a welcome interruption (social).

Then there is the approach that many telemarketers use which is to *pretend* to be doing research when they are really just asking leading questions to "soften you up" for their sales pitch.

Either way, I politely tell them "NO" and hang up the phone. That is, if I even bother to answer the phone at all. Caller ID is a wonderful thing.
